Helen Evans is from the North East of England. She lived in Bermuda for several years before settling in the Samford area of S.E. Queensland in 2008.
Helen has been a practising artist since completing her BA (hons) and MA degrees at Manchester Polytechnic and Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions in the USA, Canada, The Caribbean, UK, Bermuda, Europe, Russia and Australia, and can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
Helen has worked in an eclectic range of media through her career, from gouache to oil, exploring a number of themes, from the whimsical to the more traditional. Her current work is predominantly acrylic or encaustic. Her current work explores the quality of light in her studio through still life. She has recently started painting dogs and horse portraits by commission as a new venture “Custom Canines and Equine”.
Helen has been teaching art privately for many years. She ran The Art Train in Samford Village for 5 years, in a converted train carriage, as a teaching space and open studio. Helen moved back to her home studio in late 2018 and now works from her purpose built studio on 10 rural acres in Cedar Creek. She offers classes for adults and children and holiday art workshops for kids, plus specialist workshops and guided painting.
