My main subjects are from our beautiful natural world – landscapes, flora and fauna – although I do dabble in photo-journalism.

I see photography as ‘painting with light’, and I try to use the ambient conditions to obtain the best image possible with minimal post processing. For some shots, this may involve
many hours, or even weeks, of trial and error to get the subject angle and quality of light I want. At the other extreme, some of the best shots can occur where the camera is used to
capture a fleeting moment that may never be seen again.  For many years, my favourite medium was Kodachrome 64 with its natural saturated colours, and I have thousand of slides waiting to be digitised. Today I use a Nikon D610 digital SLR with a range of lenses from 24 mm wide angle to 500 mm telephoto.
